Ventura County Coastal Events: Oxnard, Ventura & Harbor Outings

Oxnard events crowd Chic Beach Vacations

A harbor full of decorated boats. A market bag filled with something good for dinner. An evening when everyone can choose their own food truck. Oxnard events can give your beach vacation a little local flavor without taking over the whole trip.

Here are confirmed dates to help you plan, followed by recurring outings and the best places to find fresh listings. Pick the event you would enjoy, then leave time for the beach before or afterward.

Calendar details checked October 22, 2026. Dates below include the year; follow each organizer’s link for updates, tickets, and any changes before you go.

Upcoming Oxnard events: fall and holiday dates

October 24, 2026: Parade of Frights at Channel Islands Harbor. Halloween comes to the waterfront with afternoon activities beginning at 3 p.m. and a decorated-boat parade at 7 p.m. It is a fun reason to bring the family to the harbor, enjoy the costumes, and stay as the evening settles in. See the Harbor’s official Parade of Frights listing for activity locations and details.

December 5, 2026: Oxnard Tamale Festival. The city’s holiday food festival returns to downtown Plaza Park. Come with an appetite and time to browse: the event brings together tamale vendors, arts and crafts, music, and family activities. Check the City of Oxnard’s festival page for the current program.

December 6, 2026, at 11 a.m.: Reindeer Paddle. Kayakers and paddleboarders bring a little holiday spirit to Channel Islands Harbor. You can enjoy the festive scene from shore, or use the official Reindeer Paddle listing to check participation arrangements before making plans to join on the water.

December 12, 2026: Parade of Lights. Brightly decorated boats make this a lovely holiday outing by the water. The 60th annual parade has an “Aloha Afloat” theme. Take a warm layer and allow time to find a viewing spot. Check the Harbor’s Parade of Lights page for the latest schedule.

Recurring outings: markets and food-truck evenings

Downtown Oxnard Farmers’ Market: the organizer lists the market on Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Plaza Park around Fifth and B Streets. It is an easy outing to pair with breakfast, a browse downtown, or picking up produce for your beach-house kitchen. Check the market page for updates, especially around holidays.

First Thursdays Food Trucks: Plaza Park hosts a monthly gathering with food trucks, a pop-up marketplace, and live music. It suits a group whose members all fancy something different for dinner. The organizer’s listed hours are 5 to 9 p.m.; confirm the next edition through Downtown Oxnard’s First Thursdays page.

Looking ahead: a nearby festival for spring 2027

May 15–16, 2027: California Strawberry Festival. This regional favorite celebrates strawberries with food, entertainment, and a festive day out. Despite its long Oxnard connection, the current venue is the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, so plan a drive from your Oxnard beach house. Visit the festival’s official website for the announced edition and booking information.

Ventura County Fair concerts and other Ventura outings

For the Ventura County Fair, use the organizer’s current entertainment page to choose a concert and confirm the year before making plans. The fairgrounds are in the City of Ventura. Build the outing around the announced dates and arrangements, rather than a lineup from a previous summer.

For more choices in Ventura, browse the Visit Ventura events calendar and the Ventura County Fairgrounds calendar. Pair one event with a café meal, a harbor browse, or time on the beach. Check the actual venue and date; an event elsewhere in Ventura County may need its own drive.

Music, comedy, summer events, and new additions

For a live show or a smaller event during your stay, start with the Visit Oxnard events calendar, Channel Islands Harbor calendar, and Downtown Oxnard. These are more useful for your exact travel dates than a list of last year’s performances.

Make an event part of your vacation

One evening out can be plenty. Enjoy the beach in the morning, leave time to change at the house, and head to the harbor or downtown with everyone ready for the outing. For holiday visits, a home with a kitchen also gives you the option of a family meal before or after the festivities.
