Choosing Malibu restaurants starts with the day you want to have. Some beach days call for a casual seafood lunch; others deserve a meal with an ocean outlook and time to linger. From a West Malibu home base, Neptune’s Net and Malibu Farm offer two different coastal outings.
Malibu stretches along the coast, so a restaurant with a Malibu address is not automatically near your house. Here are two different outings to consider, with the location doing as much work as the menu.
Neptune’s Net: a casual stop near County Line
Neptune’s Net sits at 42505 Pacific Coast Highway, across from County Line Beach. Its picnic-table atmosphere and seafood make it a natural option to consider during a West Malibu coastal day. This is a relaxed roadside institution, rather than dining with your table directly on the sand.
There are separate restaurant and seafood ordering areas. Look at the current menu and decide what sounds good before joining the appropriate line. The restaurant does not take reservations, so leave a little room in your plans during busy periods.
For our West Malibu guests, this is the sort of meal that can fit around a nearby beach outing without turning lunch into a separate expedition.
Malibu Farm: make it a farther-east outing
Malibu Farm offers two dining settings on Malibu Pier: a restaurant and bar at the beginning and a café at the end. Choose the setting you want, then check the current menu and arrangements for that location.
This is farther east along the coast from our West Malibu houses. Give it its own outing if the pier setting appeals to you, rather than assuming it is a quick neighborhood meal.
The restaurant’s reservation information explains its dinner bookings and daytime seating arrangements. Check directly before building the day around a particular table.
Choose Malibu restaurants around your day
Start with the beach, drive, or other outing you already have in mind. Then choose a meal that fits the route and the people coming. A picnic-table seafood stop and a reserved dinner ask different things of the day.
For larger groups, accessibility needs, allergies, or a dog coming along, contact the restaurant about the actual arrangements. Menus and seating policies can change; a quick check is more useful than an old list of promises.
There is also dinner at home
A house gives you the option to keep an evening simple. Bring food back, set the table, and let everyone settle into their own pace. Going out feels more enjoyable when you are choosing it rather than needing it for every meal.
Cloud-Break Ridge and our Deer Creek area stays offer a West Malibu base with their own setting. Ask us about the particular house and your planned outings before deciding where to stay.
